Line up 2020: Ímar

by Miriam Rossius

„Listen, see, marvel!“ was Mike Kamp’s recommendation in Folker magazine when he wrote an enthusiastic review about this band from Glasgow. They belong to the young generation of Celtic musicians who make you gasp at their high-class skills. But these five guys have so much more to offer: Ímar are a rare exceptional phenomenon.

Their virtuoso precision, breathtaking tempo and the captivating interaction of concertina, fiddle, bodhran, bouzouki and Uilleann Pipes are a perfect match. The way they throw themselves into the music is physically perceptible for the audience. The same is true for the fun that flows into their intoxicating music made from own tunes and traditionals.

The name Ímar comes from a 9th-century king who reigned across Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man. A combined territory where the band members originally are from.
