Hamid Motebassem Ensemble (IRN)

Hamid Motebassem Ensemble (IRN)Of international stature, Hamid Motebassem is a great of Iran’s contemporary music scene. Born in Mashad in Razavi Khorasan Province in 1958, he moved to Germany in 1986. Here he founded the renowned Dastan Ensemble (amongst other ensembles). He works as a composer, tar and setar player, and teacher. For us he is performing two major song cycles: Pardis (‘Paradise’) with the Thuringian Symphony Orchestra Saalfeld-Rudolstadt under the baton of Oliver Weder; and Tar-o-Pood (‘Chain and shot’), a retelling of the 12th Century CE tragic poem Khosrow and Shirin by Elyas Nizami (1141–1209 CE), the poet who wrote Layla and Majnun.
