A Voice To Remember

by Bernhard Hanneken

“I am not an Israeli artist, but an artist from Israel. I am not coming to represent Israel. As a son of diplomats, 37-year-old Asaf Avidan is predestined to make subtle differences when talking about his background and about politics. He rather blows the harmonica to the old woody Guthrie tune, “I Ain’t Got No Home”, seeing himself as homeless. Or as a citizen of the world? One of his homes are certainly the concert and festival stages. In 2012 he disbanded his former folk-rock group The Mojos – and scored a hit with “One Day / Reckoning Song (Wankelmut Rmx)". Since then, Asaf Avidan has stunned audiences worldwide with his extraordinary voice between countertenor and deep registers, and his songs about love, misery, heartbreak, wooing and all emotional dramas in between. Music of the highest intensity!
