Folk-Pop from Glasgow

by Bernhard Hanneken

Ten years ago, then 20-year old Amy Macdonald released her debut album ("This Is The Life") – and sold more than 3 million copies. Success hasn’t left her since. Inspired by Travis and Brit-Pop, she taught herself how to play a guitar aged 12. Three years later, he wrote her first songs and started playing in pubs and coffee houses around Glasgow. Amy Macdonald is a stout supporter of Glasgow Rangers and Scottish Independence yet refrains from any political, social or other statement or message: “I only want the people to be happy when they hear my songs.” What better way then to start off the Rudolstadt Festival 2017 (and its focus on Scotland) than with this “Scottish Fashion Icon 2014”?
